Work at a desk? Chances are good you're probably sharing space with various USB-powered gadgets, too many cables, not enough ports and some under-utilized grommet holes.

The geniuses at Belkin threw us a lifeline years ago with in-desk USB hubs. These powered hubs slip right into the 2- and 3-inch holes predrilled into many computer workstations, clearing the desktop of clutter.

The 2-inch model, pictured alongside my spartan computer, sports 3 topside ports plus one hidden port on the underside. I stashed a Logitech wireless receiver into the latter port where I hope never to notice its presence.

Belkin also offers a 3-inch version plus a version that swivels toward you for easy access. Apple iPod and iPhone lovers might consider the universal dock version.
